Cirque Du Soleil Trapped By Flood Waters

The show must always go on, unless you are a circus trying to fight the Ohio River.  The river level has steadily been rising as the tri-state area is being pounded with rain. Everyone in Cincinnati knows that one of the first places to be flooded is the Coney Island / Riverbend / PNC Pavilion / Riverdowns Race Track area. The location of these major entertainment venues sits right on a below river level flood plain. This has made several ticket holders to the Cirque Du Soleil Show “Ovo” that is currently set up wonder why the circus chose this location? With very few of the company’s shows coming through Cincinnati, one must wonder why they would agree to stop by our city during flood season. The event coordinators are working around the clock to try and pump water out of the parking lot in which the flood waters are pouring in.

The circus is known for coming to town and setting up a city of tents in which the performances take place. These tents are very expensive, and practically one of a kind for each of the circus company’s traveling shows. To date all shows for the opening weekend have been closed. It is unclear rather or not anymore will be cut from the performance schedule. With the rain that hit the area this weekend it is almost certain more will. Cirque Du Soleil offers exchanges to any other performance while they are in town for ticket holders whose shows have been cancelled.
